STEM Comes to Hawthorne

STEM Comes to Hawthorne

Our 2nd grade students were challenged to working in teams to create the longest paper chain possible using 2 pieces of paper, 12 inches of tape, scissors, and a ruler. Hawthorne STEM/Science Science Teacher Christin Aboulenein explained the project, "Groups had to work together as a TEAM to not only think about how to use the paper and tape strategically, but then as a team to create the chain. Many groups naturally created roles and jobs and then got to work."

In the end students laid their chains out and discussed measuring the chains but also the importance of teamwork.
