New Hawthorne Elementary to be Appointed

New Hawthorne Elementary to be Appointed

Dear Wildcats,

I am pleased to announce that I will recommend to the Board of Education at their next Meeting on April 22nd, that Mr. Anthony Carolini be appointed as the next Principal of Hawthorne Elementary, effective July 1, 2025. Mr. Carolini will succeed Anne Stern, who is retiring after a distinguished 31-year career in elementary education, including 11 years of dedicated service to Mount Pleasant.

Mr. Carolini has served as the Assistant Principal of King Street Elementary School in the Port Chester Rye Union Free School District since 2021. In this role, he has provided comprehensive leadership for the K-5 building, overseeing discipline, instructional programming, and supervision of teaching and learning. Prior to this position, he worked as a classroom teacher and building technology coordinator in Elmsford. The interview committee unanimously agreed that his responses demonstrated genuine interest in students, teachers, and parents. Throughout his career as both teacher and administrator, Mr. Carolini has shown a deep understanding of pedagogy and the critical importance of relationship-building.

I am confident that Anthony will provide our youngest wildcats with a solid foundation for their educational journey. Throughout the interview process, he emphasized the importance of building relationships and fostering a culture that nurtures young learners' natural curiosity. His dedication to addressing each student's educational, emotional, and organizational needs deeply impressed the committee, and his references confirmed his strong credibility with students, families, and colleagues in his role as a leader.

His entry plan demonstrated a thoughtful approach to relationship-building and a comprehensive understanding of effective school operations. I anticipate that he will quickly establish connections and make a meaningful impact across the entire school program.

In anticipation of his appointment, Mr. Carolini said, "I would like to thank the Board of Education, Dr. Giarrizzo, and the members of the search committee for the opportunity to join the Mount Pleasant Central School District. Throughout my career in education, from my time as a classroom teacher to my administrative experience at King Street Elementary, I have developed a passion for elementary education and building positive school communities. I am committed to fostering an environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. I am honored to join the Wildcat family and look forward to working with the talented staff, students, and families at Hawthorne Elementary."

Mr. Carolini holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Delaware, a Master of Science degree in Literacy Education from the College of New Rochelle, and a Professional Diploma in Building and School District Leadership from Manhattanville University.

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Anthony Carolini to our Mount Pleasant family.

With best regards,

Dr. Peter Giarrizzo
Superintendent of Schools
