Hawthorne Art Collaboration with Middle School Students
In a collaborative effort, Mount Pleasant Art Teacher Melissa Mancini's first graders provided colorful sketches of their imaginative monsters to Irvington Middle School eighth graders who crafted unique, hand-sewed stuffed animals in their Family and Consumer Science class with teacher Jon Mancini, who also happens to be her brother!.
Ms. Mancini said, "The “Monster Project” fostered a sense of community and collaboration between the students. The first graders eagerly anticipated the transformation of their drawings into tangible creations, affectionately calling the completed monsters “stuffies.” When their monsters came to life, our first grade Art classes sent heartfelt pictures and videos expressing their gratitude and appreciation."
Mr. Mancini’s students were thrilled to see the excitement on their faces.
